Check out Twenty-Nine Fresh Cards from Magic: The Gathering's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Expansion (Featuring a Commander-Style Precon Deck!)

The world's beloved pizza-loving superheroes are making their way to the popular trading card game. The popular trading card game's company, Wizards of the Coast, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a exclusive panel held at NYCC. Could this be a exciting addition or yet another Universes Beyond cash grab? We'll let you decide.

Take a look below at everything announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, including some useful context. All items mentioned here launches on March 6, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27th.

Magic x TMNT: Main Set Cards

Before we get into the many unique products and collections available, let’s take a look at all the cards from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set that were revealed by the developers. Play boosters for the expansion are priced at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters are priced at $37.99 per booster.

Let’s explore a few shell-shocking features. To begin, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak Attack, which is a riff on the pre-existing Ninjutsu, where gamers can cheat powerful creatures onto the game field whenever an attacker isn’t blocked. The key change here is that Sneak can apply to spells that aren’t creatures as well. Wizards also took the opportunity to refine the ability a little (It counts as casting, as opposed to Ninjutsu). The original ability isn't going away, but it's more likely players will encounter Sneak in future sets from now on.

“If we ever go back to Kamigawa, we might use Ninjutsu because that plane is it originated and it’s a hallmark to that,” an experienced game designer stated. “But on other planes, because the mechanics are smoother and the new ability will be in standard, it’s probable we’ll use Sneak.”

Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai, is one of four special cards with special art designed exclusively for the expansion by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles co-creator Kevin Eastman.

Oh, and, should you be surprised by the rules text on Turtles Forever card, which lets you play game cards outside of your deck, many players were. Yet as per the developers, it’s now a official card in every format of Magic.

In any case, below are the extremely bizarre land cards with full art from the TMNT set:

Following the company’s existing guidelines, all these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard play. The designers say they were careful to make sure the cards and gameplay elements meshed well with current Standard expansions like Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the development for over a year and we were aware it was going to be Standard-legal and what other sets were going to be alongside it in standard,” a lead designer commented. “We designed to ensure that there's synergy with some of those sets like Edge of Eternities.”

For example, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red strategy built around artifact cards.

“They combine to offer the components for a enjoyable Standard-legal deck,” the designer says.

Commander Deck: Turtle Power

Following a decision to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the forthcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only one precon, but it includes six distinct legendary creatures who could work as your Commander depending on how you combine them (five cards have a special partner ability called “Character Select” that allows starting with two of them in the command area rather than just one). Take a look below:

This Commander precon is set at $69.99, though that could easily go up based on demand. Sources told that it includes 43 new cards altogether, which translates to an extra thirty-seven Turtle-themed cards besides the six legendary creatures shown above. (Doing some rough math, that also means approximately 20 reprints if we assume the precon comes with 37 lands.)

How will the Turtles version of Sol Ring appear? We’ll just have to wait and find out.

TMNT Bundle (Regular)

As per usual, the company is selling a collection. It is priced at $69.99 and includes the listed items:

  • Nine Standard Boosters
  • Fifteen Foil land cards
  • 15 Non-foil land cards
  • Two Reference cards
  • 1 Traditional foil promo card
  • One Large spindown life counter
  • 1 storage box

Pizza-Themed Bundle

This is a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, primarily because it comes in what looks like a pizza box. Each Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and includes the items below:

  • 9 Standard Boosters
  • One Premium Booster
  • 25 Non-foil pizza lands
  • Five Foil pizza-themed lands
  • Two Traditional foil pizza bundle promotional cards
  • Two Reference cards
  • 1 Large spindown life counter
  • 1 storage box

If you’re wondering what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” means, it’s basically a reprinted older card with all-new Turtle-themed artwork. Wizards showed one for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual depicting Splinter adding toppings on a pizza. In total, there are six distinct pizza promos in total.

This special bundle launches a couple of weeks later than the main set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Night

This special bundle is designed for a four-person draft and costs $119.99. That will get you:

  • 12 Standard Boosters (the perfect amount four people to play draft)
  • One Collector Booster (also known as, the prize for coming in first)
  • Ninety Non-foil land cards (to build your deck)
  • Ten Non-foil token cards
  • 1 Draft insert (a one-sheet instruction sheet to drafting this expansion)

Cooperative Play Set

Finally, the developers are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its continued initiative to create Magic game products aimed at new players. In this case, the cooperative set is a unique product of prebuilt decks that let you and a friend team up to face a “Boss” deck that pilots itself.

The concept here that every Boss card grants unique powers to the creature cards included in the boss deck. Each Boss automatically casts one other card each turn, and players begin battling {one Boss|
