A helicopter flying near a crowded southern California shoreline unexpectedly commenced twirling out of control, eventually losing altitude and crashing into a row of palm trees as onlookers observed.

Recordings shared on social media capture the aircraft beginning to twirl over the beach then descending in the direction of the border of the coast, where it gets stuck amidst palm groves and a set of stairs adjacent to the shoreline route.

Rescue Operation Update

The Huntington Beach fire department reported five individuals were transported to a medical facility comprising a pair who were in the aircraft and were “rescued from the debris” after the crash on Saturday.

Three individuals on the road were injured. Specifics on their wounds were still under review.

The reason for the accident was not immediately released.
