The Prince of Wales Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil
Prince William is scheduled to attend the COP30 climate summit in Brazil next month, as announced by the royal household.
The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a reception preceding the climate summit, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.
The King and Prince were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event co-hosted by the British authorities.
Climate Leadership Commitment
The King has been a consistent supporter of protecting nature - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be held in Brazil preceding the climate conference.
Palace insiders have portrayed William's involvement at the upcoming climate summit as stepping up an important role in "climate diplomacy".
Previous Activities
The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were introduced to attendees such as conservation experts, scientists, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.
This engagement included speaking in concert with French leader Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco in recent months.
Environmental Prize Connection
The COP30 summit will align with the prince's own Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he participates in the climate conference on November 6th.
Last week the royal figure referred to the award contenders as "heroes of our time".
Royal Climate Legacy
King Charles has been a prominent presence at earlier environmental conferences, providing the introductory remarks in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the observation: "The Earth does not belong to us, we belong to the Earth".
"I have spent a significant amount of my life trying to warn of the critical dangers challenging our world over climate change, global temperature increases and ecological decline," the King told participants.
